Doug always gets anxious when it's time to close up the camp. He HATES having to haul/fix/drain/tie stuff when it's cloudy, miserable, rainy or cold. Each year, we forget what the year before was like as we anticipate closing day. Looks like the past few years were sunny and mild....except 2014!

in one picture, there seems to be a row of boat houses or ice fishing huts ??
what kind of houses are they ??
right on the water ??

@Wilber....this is a row of Boathouses. They are owned by cottagers who were lucky enough to snag the property many decades ago. Some cottagers sell their boathouse when/if they sell their cottage. We regret not snagging one back in '03 when we bought our place. They're not cheap, but after paying our annual marina fees, I think we may have come out on top by now.
This boathouse row is Lake Panache's famous landmark and many, many, many photos can be seen of this row.

most unusual set up, condo boat houses right on the water, with what seems to
be no protection from winder ice...

on my lake, a boat house right on water without heavy duty
concrete breakwall,... would get demolished by the ice...

These boathouses have been there as long as I remember. Some of them are larger than they appear. There is considerable storage in the back of them, all of which are along a road. Owners park their vehicles next to their boathouse, and some IN them. All of the boathouse are on cribs, and some attached to concrete foundations at the road side. But, the saving grace is likely not so much in their construction, but that they are all situated in a narrow bay that doesn't get a lot of ice movement.
Check out the bay and boathouse, from Google maps!
